Child Protection Policy and Procedures

The management of The Dock is committed to ensuring that the building is a safe and supportive environment in which children and young people can enjoy a variety of arts experiences. We are aware of our responsibility to ensure that all staff, full-time, part-time and contract, in contact with children and young people behave in a manner that is appropriate at all times.

Specific procedures in place include:
- Development and dissemination of guidelines for dealing with disclosures of child abuse or suspicion of child abuse to all staff.
- Awareness raising with staff of the importance of appropriate boundaries and behaviour when dealing with children and young people.
- Provision of training in child protection for all staff.
- A system of record keeping by participative projects using the building.
- Appointment of a designated person with responsibility for child protection.
