About The Dock - Child Protection Policy

Child Protection Policy and Procedures

The management of The Dock is committed to ensuring that the building is a safe and supportive environment in which children and young people can enjoy a variety of arts experiences. We are aware of our responsibility to ensure that all staff, full-time, part-time and contract, in contact with children and young people behave in a manner that is appropriate at all times.

Specific procedures in place include:

  1. Development and dissemination of guidelines for dealing with disclosures of child abuse or suspicion of child abuse to all staff.
  2. Awareness raising with staff of the importance of appropriate boundaries and behaviour when dealing with children and young people.
  3. Provision of training in child protection for all staff.
  4. A system of record keeping by participative projects using the building.
  5. Appointment of a designated person with responsibility for child protection.
