Young pianist Shane Fee has roots in Leitrim but his musical study has taken him to Bremen in Germany. He now returns to delight local audiences with his performance of the great German and Austrian composers including Schubert, Hayden and Bach.
Shane Fee was born in Sligo in 1993 and has been involved in music from an early age. He completed his Bachelor of Music in Maynooth University in 2013 and went on to study in the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama before undertaking a Masters in Piano performance in Hochschule für Künste Bremen, Germany, in the class of Professor Patrick O'Byrne. Apart from his university studies he has taken part in numerous masterclasses with professors and pianists from various countries including Elena Matteucci (Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia), Prof. Cathal Breslin (Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music, University of Memphis, Tennessee) and Barry Douglas. He has performed extensively as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist both in Germany and abroad and has been successful has taken part and been successful in numerous competitions in feis ceoil, new park music festival, "Neue Sterne" and the Steinway Förderpreis. He will complete his Masters Degree in February 2019 with a concert series and thesis on the portrayal of women on stage in Opera from the 17th century to the present day.
