Extended Play Workshop – Katie Wilson, 11am-12.30pm
Visual and performance artist Kate Wilson invites participants to explore connections between art forms in this playful workshop at the Dock. Sound and spoken word lead to drawing, movement, written word and installation art. This workshop is an exploration of the spaces between art forms and the rhythms and pulses that echo from one media to the next. Musicians, performance and visual artists at all levels of experience are welcomed to this open and safe space for collaborative explorations and for a unique opportunity to deepen and extend understanding through investigations across media and beyond comfort zones.
All are welcome, just bring your curiosity and an enthusiasm for play!
About the tutor: Kate Wilson is a painter as well as performer and teacher. Her work as a painter is represented in major collections in Ireland and she is recipient of numerous awards and commissions. Her work in performance is informed by mindful body practices, release technique and improvisation techniques and often involves exploration of links across the arts.
Singing dances: Body Voice Workshop with John Scott 1.30-3.00pm
John Scott leads a workshop exploring creation and development of material, spatial awareness, performance state, text, dance, wordless stories, and identity. Scott utilizes the techniques he has learned from his own research and his performances with choreographers/artists as varied as Meredith Monk, Sara Rudner, Thomas Lehmen and The Living Theatre. About the tutor: John Scott is a choreographer, Dancer and Opera singer. He has studied extensively with composer/choreographer Meredith Monk and performed in her masterpiece Quarry.
