Mono print workshop for adults with Margot Quinn
Artist Margot Quinn will help you create your own drawings and mono prints in response to Ursula Burke's exhibition The Precariats
Some of the techiniques that Margot will show you -
Photocopy transfer: monoprint technique using photocopies to create prints whereby the photocopied image is soaked in water then removed and dabbed with oil based ink. The ink adheres only to the images . A clean sheet is pressed on top and peeled away to produce the transfer print.
Transfer drawing: Inking up the plate;placing a clean sheet of paper on top and drawing on the back.
Masking: Inking plate and masking off areas with torn or cut out paper shapes.
Reduction: Inking up and removing some areas with brushes, rags etc to create images.
Prints can also be made by painting directly onto the plate and pressing the paper on top.
Participants should bring a couple of black and white photocopies and some drawings or other visuals to work from.
