Two days of observational drawing
Over the two days of drawing participants will respond to the materials in the Andrew Kearney exhibition Mechanism. Using sight perception as a method of observation, participants will develop traditional drawing skills and techniques through drawing the largescale installations set in the architectural space of The Dock.
Participants will develop their skills through drawing with various dry drawing materials and learn informal perspective drawing. O’ Toole will demonstrate various techniques, studio skills and discussions around drawing practices.
Kiera O' Toole is a visual artist / researcher who is currently an artist in residence in Leitrim Sculpture Centre and has a studio based at The Model Arts and Niland Gallery, Co Sligo. She has studied Fine Art at Dublin Institute of Technology graduating in 2000 and completed a MPhil (Fine Art) in Newcastle University, Australia in 2013.
Participants should bring to the workshop pencils – HB, 2B, 6B, graphite stick, eraser, willow charcoal, blade, assorted brushes, masking tape, coloured pencils and other dry drawing materials and paper or surfaces for drawing on that vary in sizes.
