Fiddle player Mossie Martin and singer / flute player Noelle Carroll are rooted in the north Connaught music tradition. They have been performing together since 2008 as members of the All-Ireland winning Dartry céilí band and are well-known exponents of the classic combination of fiddle and flute, Sligo style.
Mossie runs the well-established traditional Irish music PLC course in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim and is also a regular tutor at local summer schools and festivals. As part of the first two Leitrim Equation projects, he recorded with Lúnasa and Dervish and has also collaborated with other traditional artists including Leonard Barry, Michael Rooney & June McCormack, Bernard Flaherty & Donal O’Connor, Edwina Guckian and Ryan Molloy.
Noelle teaches occasionally for the Fred Finn branch of Comhaltas in Sligo and also performs regularly with her brother Seán (button accordion). Her singing and playing is featured on both albums released by the Dartry céilí band, The Killavil Post (2011) and Making Tracks (2014). Noelle and Mossie will play a wide variety of music drawn from the north Connaught tradition and the compositions of Turlough Carolan and Michael Rooney.
