Wild Words is a special festival for children and young people to enjoy books, meet authors and to encourage an interest in creative writing. Events throughout June are co-hosted by groups throughout Leitrim and the wider region that work with children and young people. This year groups will work with the festival to host workshops for children of all ages by Simone Schuemmelfeder, Tatyana Feeney, Aoife Barrett, Alan Early & E.R. Murray, Caroline Busher, Cróna Gallagher, Debbie Thomas and Kate Murtagh Sheridan.
At the end of June the festival's centrepiece is a Masterclass Programme at The Dock for teenagers who have started to write their own short stories and poetry. Over the last few months the festival has been inundated with new writing by young people from all over Ireland for the Wild Words Book which will be launched at the festival. Those selected get to attend the Masterclass Programme for free, which this year features journalist and novelist Anna Carey, poet and performer Colm Keegan, novelist Sarah Maria Griffin and playwright Tom Swift.
The 2-day programme on Sat 29th & Sun 30th June starts at 10am to 5pm each day. For Ages:14 - 17 years
