Open Season and The Essence of Design will open on Friday 27th November at 6pm with a reception.
We are delighted to welcome the students of Scoil Mhuire National School who will be singing Christmas carols in the foyer as part of the reception. This is always a highlight of the Christmas season so do drop in to hear them if you are out and about.
Open Season offers visitors a great opportunity to see a mix of vibrant, eclectic and interesting art being made in studios all round the county and its surrounds. Exhibting artists are at all stages in their artistic careers and they have been invited to submit work in any medium. The exhibition features painting, sculpture, moving image, photography, and drawing. The exhibition will feature abstract and figurative painting as well as more conceptual work. This year the themes of landscape, people and home have emerged as strong threads running through the show.
Both these exhibitions will be vibrant and eclectic and ultimately a celebration of the rich vein of creativity that exists in the region. What’s more they could be just the place where you could find an original and beautiful Christmas present.
The Essence of Design exhibition will feature works that illustrate a design journey; demonstrating how ideas evolve into products and concepts and will showcase a range of new, functional and exciting products. This exhibition has been supported by Irish Design 2015, a programme exploring, promoting and celebrating Irish design and designers through events and activities throughout Ireland and around the world.
A visit to the galleries of The Dock over the Christmas break will be well worth your while and we hope that you will be free to join us. Admission is free and all are welcome.
