The Open Season exhibition in the galleries at The Dock offer the perfect opportunity to pick up a personal and original Christmas gift produced by local artists. Come on in and see for yourself the wealth of artistic talent in Leitrim and surrounding areas, showcasing the work of more than 100 artists in the galleries from Friday evening 5th December until Saturday 24th January.
Scoil Mhuire pupils will be filling the building with the beautiful sounds of Christmas carols as they perform on the staircase on the evening of the opening, Friday 5th December at 6.00pm
There is plenty to choose from in this exhibition, with more than 100 original pieces of art from local artists and craftspeople for sale at very reasonable prices, from €50 upwards. You’ll be spoilt for choice, with oil, acrylic and watercolour paintings, pencil and charcoal drawings, photographs, sculpture, metal and mixed media pieces and more, with a range of subjects from landscapes and portraits to still life and abstract pieces. And in Gallery 1 of the Dock, a exhibition will be presented by Kids’ Own Publishing Partnership, in partnership with The Dock. Entitled ‘Virtually There’ it is a new exhibition of work made by artists, children and teachers through online residencies as part of the Virtually There project. VIRTUALLY THERE explores a unique model of arts in education, based on a project by the national arts organisation Kids’ Own that has been running in Northern Irish schools since 2007 and is now piloting at Scoil Mhuire in Carrick on Shannon.
