James King has engaged in performance activities for 35 years. These have included street theatre, street art and clowning, much of it in Derry. Since retiring from thirty years of university teaching Drama at the University of Ulster, King has developed an interest in voice performance which has taken him into areas around open mic entertainment and sound poetry. He performs regularly at Bbeyond monthly group events in Belfast and steadily in his adopted home town of Derry City, sometimes in collaboration with colleagues. His exhibition at The Dock will feature photos, drawings and emails that document his recent activities. James King will also be in residence for a weekend of performance during Bealtaine, the month that celebrates creativity throughout our lifetime.
