Something cool is happening in our Gallery 1, and if you hurry you’ll still be able to make it and get a proper glance for yourself, the work is up for another two full days, but I do raise my hands and take the blame for not informing you sooner as I missed the opening myself!… So where else would you be heading in that terrible rain, and the matches haven’t started yet, The Dock is where it’s at!
The exhibition/ anti-litter-campaign goes be the title Have you a dirty mind?, and what a great title this is! Ten second level students from all over the county, put together in one room, learning all the first tricks of the trade in graphic design of Padraig Cunningham, agreeing on the subject of Littering … and their rocking result and graphic works can be seen here at The Dock! Funded be the Arts County Council and Tidy Towns, but the exhibition goes more than project-funded-skin-deep; it is heart-warming and reassuring to see a lovely bunch of very young people tackle the issue through different styles and media, them taking a stand on what is cool and what’s not and making the effort to make us think. Only recently 4000Euro have been spent on cleaning up all the sticky chewing gum off our Carrick streets, mad numbers in times when money is precious… To consider there has to be another way is the way to go, future generation roll on, we are listening!
