Patrick Hogan the Berlin based Irish visual artist has started a month long artists residency at The Dock. Patrick works with moving image, new media and sound. He is the recipient of The Arts Council of Ireland New Project Award 2018 for his project The Fieldpath (working title). The project will for m the basis of his month ling stay here in Carrick on Shannon. As part of the residency Patrick will deliver a talk with Colin Graham who is is Professor and Head of English at Maynooth University at The Dock on Saturday Sat 27th October at 2:00pm. The talk will address the importance of language and poetics, both visual and verbal, in the artist’s practice which spans film, new media and sound. The artist will preview new work and discuss his current collaboration Colin Graham. The project draws on philosopher Martin Heidegger’s 1949 essay ‘Der Feldweg’ and deals with themes of technological convergence, time, language and our relationship to the ecological.
