The Dock comprises three galleries, a performance space and additional rooms for meetings and workshops
The Dock’s gallery spaces are comprised of three beautiful rooms with high ceilings and large arched Georgian windows each offering a perfect setting in which to view painting, sculpture or installation (or indeed the occasional music and contemporary dance performance).
The galleries are accessed by ascending the wide stone staircase that greets you as you step into the building’s generous foyer area. The staircase looks imposing (as the building was originally a Courthouse it was meant to be a little daunting!) but don’t let that deter you. Alternatively you can take the lift situated to the right of the stairwell.
The Performance Space
The Dock’s performance Space is located in the downstairs area of the building and seats up to 117 people. It is an ideal setting for intimate and larger scale performances, small scale conference events and talks. Full technical specifications are available here
This ground-floor space provides a comfortable, child-friendly area where you can enjoy a tea or coffee from the Jury Room Café during the day and have pre-concert or interval drink when you attend a performance. Located adjacent to our Box Office the foyer also offers free wifi for customers.
The Jury Room Café
Located just to the left of the main staircase The Jury Room is open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am to 3pm and Saturday from 10.30am to 3pm. Serving a selection of fairtrade specialist coffees and teas as well as light snacks the café offers a warm and convivial atmosphere in which to relax during your visit and chat, read the newspaper or browse the large selection of art related literature available in its library.
