About Strong Women Science :

StrongWomen Science is a circus science show for children and families starring two women scientists turned circus performers. Aoife Raleigh is an engineer, Maria Corcoran an environmental scientist.

STEPS Engineers Week is a week-long festival of nationwide activities celebrating the world of engineering in Ireland. The aim of each activity is to positively showcase engineering as a rewarding and creative career choice in all communities. The annual event is coordinated on a national basis by Engineers Ireland’s STEPS programme - funded under Science Foundation Ireland’s Discover programme call.

Here at The Dock, we have been participants in Engineers Week since the start! Each year we host workshops for primary and second level students and in 2020 we presented a performance which incorporated science, acrobatics, circus and fun! : Strong Women Science

Workshops in 2020 included one inspired by our exhibition at the time, Cillín, facilitated by photographer and artist, Anna Leask. In this workshop Anna worked with the participants to explore how creative lighting can impact your resulting images.
