Explore the rich colours of winter in this collaborative painting project with artist, David Smith. Discover the rewarding process of colour mixing using science, theory and the natural world as our starting point.
Focusing on the subject of colour in landscape and the natural environment, you will learn painting and colour mixing skills as well as working with digital media.
Looking at and learning from artists paintings as well as projects in photography and digital media will form part of the project. You will also be encouraged to find sources in your own local environment. Towards the end of this collaboration, our works will be gathered together to create the components of one large, 100 piece painting installation.
The project consists of 8 x 30 min zoom sessions that you can participate in from the comfort of your own home. The dates are January on Sat 9th & Sat 23rd February on Sat 6th, Sat 13th & Sat 20th and in March on Sat 6th & Sat 20th & Sat 27th.
A small and basic materials list will be forwarded to participating artists prior to workshop
David Smith is an Irish artist and an arts educator at The Dock. He has worked across all levels of art education from community art projects through third level both in Ireland and Hong Kong. He makes paintings based on landscape and our interactions with the natural world. He also creates music, photographic and video projects. His works and projects have been exhibited across Europe, Asia and the US. Originally from Mayo he is currently based in Sligo.
