Based on the novel Uncle Silas by the Irish writer of Gothic tales, Sheridan Le Fanu, this dark and delicious thriller, set in the mid-nineteenth century concerns the fate of newly orphaned, Maud Ruthyn. Maud has inherited her father's vast estate which includes the demesne of Knowl Manor. As a minor, Maud must live under the guardianship of her Uncle Silas, the family black sheep, until she comes of age.
Uncle Silas, his son Edward and daughter, Emily move into big house, with Emily’s mysterious and scheming French Governess (Grainne Keenan). Things turn sinister and Maud becomes a prisoner in her own home, as Silas conspires to force her into marriage with his son, in a move to seize her fortune.
Directed by Lisa Mulcahy with screenplay by Elizabeth Gooch, Lies We Tell has a stellar cast, which includes Agnes O'Casey as Maud (Agnes is the great- granddaughter of the writer, Sean O'Casey), David Wilmot as Uncle Silas, Chris Walley as Edward, and Holly Sturton as Emily. This dark psychological thriller features stunning locations such as Ardgillan Castle in County Dublin, Lough Rynn Castle in Mohill, County Leitrim and the Ulster American Folk Park in County Tyrone.
