Age 10-13years
Saturday, Nov 5th and Saturday 12th November
Note that attendance is required for two Saturdays
Saturday Studios is a series of workshops for young people that take place over two weekends in The Dock. These workshops are delivered as a way for young people to work closely with an artist and get an insight into their practices, as well as taking inspiration from our current exhibition.
Join us as we explore the shapes, colours, light and lines of nature, plants and insects using a variety of mediums with artist Lisa Cannon
In these Saturday Studio workshops, the young people will create individual artworks that will come to life through layering, light and shadow.
First Session - Saturday Nov 5th
This workshop with Lisa Cannon will draw inspiration from Celina Muldoon artworks currently in the gallery as well as Lisa’s own art practice. Using collage mixed media and drawing, Lisa will lead the young people in creating a number of abstract landscapes environments that investigate colour and lines. These works will inform the next step in creating in the second session.
Second session - Saturday Nov 12th
In our second session Lisa and the students will explore organic forms inspired by exhibiting artist Celina Muldoon artworks. Combining this work with the abstract landscapes of week one and looking closely at light and shadow and how it can affect your artwork, this session will focus on building a blend of 2D and 3D to create our final artworks.
Lisa Cannon is an artist and illustrator based in Sligo. Much of Lisa’s Art practice focuses on pattern, linework and colour, using a variety of different mediums.
