The Dock is delighted to welcome Anna Spearman as a 2024 Studio Artist. Anna is a visual artist living and working in county Sligo.
“My studio practice is process led and is primarily concerned with the world of materiality, and the curious and playful language inherent in the processes of both object-making and painting.”
Anna has a multifaceted practice, and has worked on a variety of educational and socially engaged programmes with organisations including Kids Own Publishing Partnership, Arts Council of Ireland, HSE, Age and Opportunity, and Sligo County Council. Collaborative projects include Sligo Global Kitchen (2015) with residents of Direct Provision in Sligo and the Model, and a long term collaboration with artist Margaret Walker of KCAT studios as part of their Engagement Project.
Exhibitions include ‘Loose Parts’ (curated by Naomi Draper), Roscommon Arts Centre, 2021 and ‘….and Other Things’, Hyde Bridge Gallery, 2020. Residencies include RHA/IPUT Wilton Place Studios award (2024), the Scottish Sculpture Workshop (2024) and PADA studios (2021).
