An engaging and interactive workshop that provides practical tools to create more welcoming and inclusive workplaces across the arts and creative sectors.
This equity, diversity, & inclusion workshop will take place on Thursday 26 November from 11am — 2pm and is free to attend. A light vegetarian lunch will be provided for participants.
Who is it for?
This workshop is aimed at artists, creatives and arts workers, whether freelance or an employee, at any level in the arts and creative sectors in Ireland and aims to build participants’ understanding of LGBTQIA+ identities, inclusive language, and allyship.
Why does it matter?
Creating inclusive and respectful workplaces benefits everyone. LGBTQIA+ work colleagues, artists, participants, and audiences should feel welcomed, valued, and able to participate fully in creative spaces.
What will I learn?
This workshop is a fun and interactive learning session offering a comprehensive overview of LGBTQIA+ identity, terminology, and allyship delivered in partnership with ShoutOut. The workshop is facilitated by Ruadhán O’Críodáin, Founder and Director of Shoutout.
A safe space is provided for people to ask questions, and we show how small changes in practice, policy, and approach can make a big difference for LGBTQIA+ colleagues, artists, and audiences.
"I found the presentation of very high quality, offering a great balance between general, personal, theoretical and practical insights on the subject, especially for a group with very diverse knowledge and experiences. The interventions of the attendees were also very well managed."
In this session, we will discuss the current landscape for LGBTQIA+ communities, artists, and art workers, and explore how organisations and individuals can meaningfully support LGBTQIA+ inclusion and visibility.
This session is crucial for anyone who wants to lead confidently as an LGBTQIA+ ally or advocate in their work. Everyone can learn something here!
This will be an interactive session, with scenario work, discussion, and ample opportunities for Q&A.
