Join artist David Smith for this one-day masterclass to create an oil painting inspired by the theme of Travel and Adventure on Saturday 5 October, 11am-4pm.
Explore the subtleties of different colour wheels and how to create a colour plan. You will discover the technique of making a ‘memory palette’ and apply these skills to your own oil painting. You will be working from found references and photographs as a starting point, but feel free to bring pictures from your own travels.
Discover artists and illustrators who have focused on this theme to inspire your own painting. Some paint, mediums, materials, and wood surfaces will be available on the day, and you are also encouraged to bring your own oil paint and brushes if you have any.
Figure, place, landscape, culture, and travel come together to form a captivating subject for you to paint using the Alla Prima technique – a wet-on-wet method where wet paint is applied to previous layers of still-wet paint, often completed in a single sitting. Book your place through the link below or call 071 965 0828.
