Virtual Studio Visits are an opportunity for artists working in any medium and at any experience level to meet and connect with Irish and international curators. The Dock is delighted to announce this new initiative facilitated by Erika Mei Chua Holum.
Through 20-minute virtual sessions, artists can meet with a curator to cover topics ranging from a conversation on your artistic practice, feedback on an upcoming proposal, questions about your career, or museum practice in general.
Virtual Studio Visits are facilitated by Erika Mei Chua Holum, Curator at The Dock, with occasional, invited guest curators from across Ireland and abroad. Please join our newsletter or visit the Artists page of our website for announcements on guest curators and information on how to register.
Artists based in the Northwest, the North of Ireland, and rural contexts across Ireland are particularly encouraged to register. Appointments will be scheduled for 20 artists during the pilot phase, and additional spaces will be opened in the New Year.
Virtual Studio Visits will not be recorded, but questions and feedback shared by artists will guide and inform reviews of our Programme and Artists’ Payment Policy and FAQs. Expressions of interest to meet with Erika Mei Chua Holum will open on this page on 23 September 2026.
Erika Mei Chua Holum
Erika Mei Chua Holum is a writer and curator based in Northwest Ireland. She is Curator at The Dock Arts Centre. Her ongoing curatorial research focuses on interdisciplinary artistic practice and community organizing efforts that connect global legacies of land and water protectors and cultural survivance.
Recent projects include How to Grow the Cow Pea: Survival Strategies from the U.S. South at Visual Art Center at the University of Texas at Austin (2026); 踩下去! DOWN TO EARTH!, awarded the 2025 TANK Curator Prize from the Shanghai Curator Lab 4 (2025/2026); major solo exhibitions with multidisciplinary artist and cultural fire steward Saif Azzuz (2025) and critical geographer and visual artist Cian Dayrit (2024) at the Blaffer Art Museum at the University of Houston; and Ecofictions and Understories (2023-24) with the Houston Climate Justice Museum. Since 2024, Erika has convened the Sahara Dust Season, an artist collective and residency programme active during the temporary and migratory region created by Saharan dust clouds.
