The Dock is delighted to welcome Lina Lambert as the first participant in the Young Curators Programme. Lina will work across all areas of our Artistic Programme from events and exhibitions to community activities and artists’ supports. She will curate PUNK FRIDAY with Natalia Beylis for the final event of our Late-Night Events pilot under the Night-Time Economy programme.
Lina Lambert is based in Carrick on Shannon with a family background in theatre and the arts. Having grown up in Leitrim, she has firsthand experience of what is missing for young people to do in the area and wishes to make a positive impact in improving the events programme for young people. Lina is certified in Art & Design through Sligo CFE and is continuing her studies in September in The Lir Academy in their Stage Management and Technical Theatre course.
"I think the Young Curators Programme extends the opportunity not only to me, but other young people in the area to try out new things. I’ve always been passionately vocal about the fact that there isn’t enough scope in activities for people who are interested in alternative music or art, or anything not covered by the common extracurricular activities. Or at least in a way which is accessible and welcoming to people of all ages! Through the Young Curators Programme and PUNK FRIDAY, I feel I’ve been able to give a platform to young people to make art, enjoy a night out that isn’t surrounding alcohol, listen to some good music and have a bit of fun!"
Young Curators Programme
The Young Curators Programme is a new initiative at The Dock to collaborate with young people on delivering strategic aims and priorities of the organisation, to provide paid work experience and funded training opportunities for young people in the arts and culture sector in Ireland and internationally, and to involve young people in policymaking and future-proofing activities.
Lina Lambert's participation in the Young Curators Programme is kindly supported by the Leitrim Creative Sector Internship Programme, part of Leitrim County Council's Creative Ireland programme managed by the Arts Office and Local Enterprise Office.
