About Neva Elliott’s Commission
For our Winter commission here at The Dock, artist and writer Neva Elliot expanded her current body of work dealing with loss, grief, and healing.
The pre-existing work was a collection of photography, text and sound, and documentation of performative work. This included looking at how gesture, personal encounters, and other elements of everyday life are at once performance and genuine life. Elliot also engaged with audiences through personal, shared experience and addressing universal, human conditions.
For The Dock commission, Elliott continued to develop this body of work, and expanded it, working through drawing, photography, text, and performance, creating a series of ‘sketches’ over the period leading to a distillation into plans for new work.
Specifically for the commission, Neva also created a series of photographs and texts around human connection, intimacy, and the everyday.
