Speaking of Which... is a new series of short films with eleven contemporary, Irish artists who are both established and emerging in their careers led by The Dock in Carrick on Shannon in collaboration with The LAB Gallery in Dublin. This new series of short filmed interviews with Irish artists was developed to be used in an educational setting by teachers and arts organisations.

In this video, artist Eve O'Callaghan talks about how her studio space in Temple Bar Gallery & Studios helps her, how she makes her own paints, how she creates the surfaces for her paintings, and how colour, light and even the time of day can affect the work that she makes.

The inspiration for these online films comes from the desire to create an opportunity for young people to engage with visual arts culture and to give them a unique insight into arts practices, methods, and motivations through the words of practising artists. The series also provides an opportunity for artists to communicate with a young audience. The artists involved are emerging artists at the beginning of their careers and more established artists taking risks in their practice.

These videos are ideal for use by teachers and arts organizations, and a fascinating opportunity to hear and learn more about the art-making process. About Eve O’Callaghan

Eve O’Callaghan graduated from NCAD Fine Art Painting and Visual Culture BA in 2017. She has been shortlisted for the Hennessy Craig Scholarship, Dublin (2019) and RDS Visual Art Award, Dublin (2017). Her work has also been exhibited at RHA Gallery (2019) Pallas Projects, Dublin (2019) and Draoicht, Dublin (2018). She is the 2019/20 recipient of the Temple Bar Gallery and Studios Recent Graduate Residency.
