Speaking of Which... is a new series of short interviews with eleven contemporary Irish artists who are both established and emerging in their careers led by The Dock in Carrick on Shannon in collaboration with The LAB Gallery in Dublin. This series with Irish artists was developed to be used in an educational setting by teachers and arts organisations.

In this video artist Jamie Cross speaks about the freedom of being an artist, returning to study art as a mature student, his interest in sculpture, gadgets, cameras and projection mapping, and how he involves his environment in his artistic practice.

The inspiration for these online films comes from the desire to create an opportunity for young people to engage with visual arts culture and to give them a unique insight into arts practices, methods, and motivations through the words of practising artists. The series also provides an opportunity for artists to communicate with a younger audience. The artists involved are artists at the beginning of their careers and also established artists who are taking risks in their practice.

These videos are ideal for use in an educational setting, and a fascinating opportunity to hear and learn more about the art-making process. Jamie Cross is currently studying for an MA in Art + Research Collaboration at IADT Dun Laoghaire. He has an upcoming exhibition with The Dock Arts Centre in Carrick-On-Shannon in 2020. In October 2019 he was featured in the RDS Visual Arts Award 2019, curated by Janet Mullarney and David Quinn and was awarded joint winner of the R.C. Lewis Crosby Award. He was also shortlisted for the Ormond Art Studios Graduate Award 2019 which gave him the opportunity to be part of an evening of talks hosted by Ormond Art Studios in September 2019. He recently completed a BA(Hons) in Art from IADT where he was awarded the 2019 IADT Graduate Student Art Award for an emerging artist of note, sponsored by the Dock Arts Centre in Carrick-On-Shannon, Co. Leitrim.
