A selection of musicians will gather to perform in a dedicated concert hosted by Cathy Jordan of Dervish to celebrate the life and music of the legendary Ben Lennon.
This event will take place in the Bush Hotel.
Ben was born in Kiltyclogher in 1928. He emigrated to England in 1949, returning to Ireland in 1955 living in both Cork and Limerick before moving back to live in his wife’s Patsy’s (nee Eames) home village of Rossinver, approximately 4 miles from Kiltyclogher, in the early 1970’s.
Ben’s recording career spanned over a 30 year period from his first commercial recording on the Claddagh label with Seamus Quinn, Ciaran Curran and Gabriel McArdle under the title ‘Dog Big Dog Little’, in 1999 he released the CD ‘The Natural Bridge’ and in 2008 he recorded a CD with Limerick concertina player Tony O’Connell called ‘Rossinver Braes’ – all to critical acclaim.
Ben was the recipient of the Gradam Ceoil Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. Ben sadly passed away in March 2020 but has left behind a large and remarkable legacy of recordings.
