“Emer is an entertainer through and through…” Hot Press Music Magazine

This September, we are thrilled to welcome the sublime voice of Emer Dunne to The Dock. 'Folk Threads', is a unique, diverse, and versatile folk music show that brings together the ethereal voice of Emer Dunne and her superbly talented musicians. This performance will link the threads of Irish, Scottish, and American folk song and music.

Sit back and enjoy the well-loved songs such as ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’ and ‘Sweet Sixteen,’ alongside some contemporary surprises! Emer has a purity & strength in her voice that has deemed her to be “a definite rising star” by Irish Music Magazine. Emer came to prominence on the folk scene after featuring on the RTE ‘Today’ show, and following the release of two no. 1 hit singles, and her no. 1 debut folk album, ‘Hourglass’ (produced by Bill Shanley). Emer has been touring various theatres around Ireland and is looking forward to bringing her Autumn tour ‘Folk Threads’ to Carrick on Shannon. Tickets on sale August 1st.

“A fabulous album from start to finish” - RTÉ Radio 1

“A great voice and a lovely impressive production” - BBC Radio Ulster

About the Artist

From singing at the Celtic Ball in Rome at the tender age of ten, across Europe and Japan with an Irish dance troop, to the release of her debut folk album 'Hourglass', Emer's voice is now soaring to greater heights.

"Emer Dunne, a singer & musician whose eternal optimism & hard work will surely be rewarded when the half-light of these days gives way to a full dawn.
" - Irish Independent

Hailing from the Midlands in County Laois, in recent times Emer has released two no 1 hit singles from her debut folk album 'Hourglass,' produced by the renowned Bill Shanley (Paul Brady, Gilbert Sullivan, Mary Black). Emer's crystal clear voice & entertaining nature on stage has also led to her successful theatre tours and festival performances across the country in 2022 and 2023.

Emer has many accolades from being approached by the management of Leonard Cohen, praising her version of his famous song, ‘Hallelujah’ to performing for the American and Japanese Ambassadors at their residences.

Steeped in Irish folk music from childhood, combined with voice training from the renowned late Dr Veronica Dunne in the Leinster School of music, she has received apt reviews from far and wide

"As Emer begins to sing, the lyrics are crystal clear and pin point on scale. Catchy, it's a laid back yet full-on musical experience " - Rowan Clover (Single Review)

2023 saw Emer join on the Irish tour with the renowned folk act, The Fureys, to include prestigious venues the INEC/Gleneagle and Vicar Street. She also worked on her own theatre shows with her band and summer festivals, including being selected for 'Forest Fest', sharing the stage with Sharon Shannon, Paul Brady, Stockton's Wing and more.

Emer has received great feedback from her theatre shows.

“The audience fully appreciated this superb singer. This is a production not to be missed” Review from Abbey Arts Centre, Ballyshannon, Donegal 2022

Emer has shared the stage with some of Ireland's biggest Irish folk artists including The Fureys, John Spillane, Phil Coulter, The Celtic Tenors, Mick Hanly, Frankie Gavin, and the Irish Tenors.

Emer's voice and songs are gaining great traction following her performance on RTE One's 'Today Show' and with frequent radio play on national and regional stations including RTÉ's Ronan Collins Show & Radio 1's 'Rising Time'.
Emer has received great reviews across the board, including from Irish Music Magazine, Hot Press, Irish Country Living, RTÉ Behind the Music, and Irish Independent.
