Dance Dialects on Friday 10 April 2026
Dance Dialects is a vibrant new performance platform celebrating the future of percussive dance in Ireland. Developed through an intensive residency programme, this event brings together sixteen exceptional musicians and dancers to create new works rooted in rhythm, dialogue and shared tradition.
Over three focused days, each dancer–musician pair has collaborated closely, exploring improvisation, musical connection and performance practice, supported by mentors Edwina Guckian, Stephanie Keane, Caitlín Nic Gabhann and Becky Ní Éalaithe. The result is a series of new work that reflects the individuality of each artist while contributing to the evolving language of traditional dance.
Dance Dialects is not just a performance, but a conversation. Audiences are invited into the creative process through short live exchanges with the dancers and musicians, offering insight into how these works were made and what it means to be a professional dance artist today.
Expect intricate footwork, powerful musical partnerships, and an evening that honours tradition while boldly pushing it forward. Featuring collaborations by: Aoife McCabe & Piaras Ó Lorcáin; Brian O’Brien & Dave Munnelly; Caoimhe Mulligan & Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin; Alice Cade & Stephen Doherty; August Kirwin & Ultan Ó Brien; Ava Glancy & Méabh Ní Bheaglaoich; Bethan Marsh & Séamas Hyland; Ellen Langton & Sharon Howley.
