Irish singer/songwriter Mundy comes to The Dock for a special live performance.
Born Edmond Enright in the town of Birr, Co.Offaly, Mundy moved to Dublin at 18 years of age to take his place on the energetic busking scene. It was during these formative years — and in the midst of personal upheaval — that he wrote a number of defining early songs, including Gin & Tonic Sky and Life’s A Cinch. These emotionally charged tracks quickly marked him out as a distinctive new voice, leading to a recording deal with Epic Records and a publishing agreement with Warner Chappell Music.
A seasoned live performer, Mundy’s music has taken him around the world — sharing stages with artists such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris, R.E.M., Oasis, The White Stripes, and The Pogues. Among many career highlights, he has also been invited to perform for Barack Obama at the White House as part of prestigious St Patrick’s Day celebrations.
His debut album Jelly Legs was released in 1996 to widespread acclaim, selling over 50,000 copies and establishing Mundy as a major presence on the Irish music scene. International attention soon followed with the release of To You I Bestow, a visceral and deeply intimate song that featured on the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet — a global bestseller that introduced Mundy to the world.
Since then, Mundy has released eight further albums, carving out his own version of acoustic, folk-based pop and rock through his independent label Camcor Records, founded in 2000. His album Raining Down Arrows debuted at number one in the Irish charts, and his career has been marked by gold and multi‑platinum sales. He is recipient of the 2009 Meteor Music Most Downloaded Song award for his much-loved rendition of Galway Girl with Sharon Shannon.
