The Dock is pleased to present a free screening of the LGTBQ+ hit 'Pride' for Leitrim Pride Week 2026.
Based on the inspirational true story, set in 1984 during Margaret Thatcher's tenure, Pride follows a group of London-based lesbian and gay activists who form Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM). Recognising parallel struggles against police and government oppression, they raise funds to support striking Welsh miners. Despite initial local resistance and social friction, mutual support bridges the gap between the two distinct communities.
Pride, directed by the Tony Award winning theatre director Matthew Warchus (Matilda: The Musical, God of Carnage), has a large ensemble cast led by Bill Nighy (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake) with the other roles played by a host of well-known British actors including Dominic West (300, The Wire), Paddy Considine (Dead Man's Shoes) and Joseph Gilgun (This Is England).
Pride was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and for the BAFTA for Best British Film, Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Staunton and for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.
