A moving and authentic portrayal of parenting a child with autism

The Flowers of May tells the story of David and Lisa, parents navigating the joys and challenges of raising their child with autism. The play delves into the realities of parenting, from encountering patronising in-laws and not-too-friendly neighbours to learning how to support each other through their differences. At its heart, it is a story of resilience, love, and understanding that aims to resonate deeply with audiences of all backgrounds.

The production is a testament to lived experience. Performers Matthew McMahon and Eileen Gomez are parents of children with autism, bringing a raw authenticity to their roles that has touched the hearts of audiences. The play combines compelling storytelling with an intimate performance style, ensuring its themes of empathy and inclusion reach all who see it.

The Flowers of May has been met with widespread acclaim from parents, educators, and community groups. Schools and autism awareness organisations have praised the play for its educational value and for shining a light on the realities faced by families raising children with neurodiverse. Audiences have described the play as "profoundly moving," "deeply relatable," and "a must-see for anyone seeking to understand the world of parenting a neurodiverse child."
