Sold Out
  • Date 1 December 2023
  • Time7pm—Late

Zoé Basha & Anna Mullarkey will perform at the Leitrim Arts Awards to launch The Dock's new late-night events programme supported by the Arts Council of Ireland. The Leitrim Arts Awards hosted by Creative Frame are both an end of year celebration for our arts community and a welcome chance to get together with other artists and creative practitioners living and working in Leitrim and the surrounding counties. This year, the event will be held at The Glens Centre in Manorhamilton.

Zoé Basha is a Leitrim-based musician, composer and carpenter, of French-American origins. Drawing from her background as a traditional singer influenced and inspired by the multiple cultures embedded in her sound, Zoé Basha blends traditional Appalachian, Occitan and Irish singing with Piedmont blues and jazz. Accompanied by Anna Mullarkey on keys and synths, performances are an ensemble of traditional songs and original compositions: instruments toying with each other and voices booming with intimate and unexpected harmonies, wilderness and dynamic fervour. From 2019 to 2023, Zoé was a member of vocal trio Rufous Nightjar. She is a recipient of the 2023 Resonate Residency, in partnership with Music Network. In 2024, she will be recording and releasing her debut album.

Anna Mullarkey
is an award-winning composer and performer from Galway, whose music weaves electronics with piano and voice. Having grown up in the West of Ireland, Anna draws inspiration from the sea for her compositions. The Irish Times called her “phenomenal” and Irish Theatre Magazine described her music as “if a sultry ménage of Björk/Billie Holiday/Philip Glass got together at the Wickerman Festival.” Her original score for the film The Passion (2021) has won awards in Ireland and Europe. Anna’s debut album, Falling, released in 2023, is all about falling in and out of love. It is a shapeshifting soundscape, with sometimes comforting and sometimes haunting melodies that evoke summer afternoons and winter evenings, that speak to a haunted past and a radiant present. The album has received critical acclaim and national radio play. Anna is currently working on scoring for theatre and film blending electronics with classical music

The event will start with a drinks reception at 7.00pm followed by a three course feast prepared by the Edergole Kitchen.
