The Dock Arts Centre,
St. George's Terrace,
As its Good News Friday
today we thought we would post something feel good on the blog.
October 2009 saw the return of RíRá Children's Arts Festival to Carrick on Shannon - an awful lot of fun was had that week. There was a fantastic line up, with everything from puppet shows to hip hop dancing, including the very talented Nico Brown and Martin Brunsden
- who even convinced some of The Docks' staff members to join in at the Instant Orchestra!
One particular school were so impressed with Nico and Martin that a week later we recieved an envelope of drawings from the students of Tarmon National School. Here is a selection of some of their work - we were delighted to recieve them, as were Nico and Martin, so a big thank you to Tarmon National School. It really made our day!
Are you feeling creative?
Fancy a years worth of coffee and cake?
Could you think of a great name for The Dock’s Café Bar?
The Dock’s Café Bar will reopen on 2nd
February and we would like a new name to celebrate.
With the well known faces of Carrick on Shannon’s own Davy Davis and Andy Neenan at the helm, The Dock Café Bar is the perfect spot to relax with a specialty coffee and some delicious home made cake, catch up with friends for a drink at a gig or browse its selection of books after a wander through the galleries.
Aswell as that warm fuzzy feeling of pride to see your chosen name above the door you will also receive a free coffee and cake every week for a whole year

Happy New Year everyone - hope you all had a lovely break! Lots happening in 2010 at The Dock...we kicked off the new decade in style last night with a very very funny night at Leitrim Laughs Comedy Club with Maeve Higgins, Gearoid Farrelly and John Colleary. More big names on the way like Declan O'Rourke, Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh and Ardal O'Hanlon. Check out whats coming up at www.thedock.ie
Also despite the bad weather conditions we have been having here at home spare a thought for the people of Haiti as they cope with a catastrophe of major proportions.
