GreenBirdFlying is a Leitrim-based alt-folk trio that performs tuneful, original folk music and songs, with a hint of strangeness, that fit around many genres including Traditional, Old-Time and Americana. Their gigs are a lively mix of upbeat foot-tappin’ fiddle and guitar songs and uplifting original songs centred around a piano and poetry.
Coming from diverse musical backgrounds such as folk, jazz and the RnB vocal roots of their singer they blend these influences to create their own voice in the folk world. They have been compared to The Unthanks and Kate Bush.
They are happy to be once again hosting music at Lunch in the Jury Room café and will be playing some old favourites as well as some new songs in development. As always, if anyone would like to sing a song or read a poem they are welcome!
Drop in to the Jury Room café from 12 — 2pm on Saturday 21 November. Free entry; €5 suggested donation.
"On a fiddle stolen from the fairies, a piano carved from the fossils of giant elk, and a voice we traded the mountain Giants three silver beads and an old Cuckoo clock for…. We are GreenBirdFlying. We bring you Folk music, Hill music, poems wrapped around music. Music with feathers and fairytales that walk out of old myths. Stories from the dark of the night and the brightness of noon."
