Explore the architectural legacy of one of Carrick-on-Shannon's most iconic public buildings in Columns of the Past: Carrick Courthouse Architecture, a talk on the courthouse’s design and place in Ireland’s architectural heritage on Friday 20 June at 7.30pm at The Dock. Free admission.
This event will be led by Sean Gill, a local history buff and Chairperson of the Carrick-on-Shannon and District Historical Society, who will share insights into the courthouse’s original design, aesthetic influences and the historical context that shaped its creation. The talk will also reflect on how the building has been adapted overtime and been brought back into public use as a thriving arts centre.
Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, or simply curious about how historic spaces are inherited and readapted, this event will shed light on the layers of meaning built into Carrick’s former courthouse.
Admission is free and booking is required. Columns of the Past: Carrick Courthouse Architecture is kindly supported by Leitrim County Council Arts Office and Creative Ireland. For more information, please contact Jonathan Harte at jonathan.harte@leitrimcoco.ie.
