During her Residency as Youth Artist in Residency at The Dock, Hazel will curate a three-day festival of poetry and storytelling for a young audience in December. Winter Wishes- Words for Winter will host storytelling from around the world that focus of the theme of Winter, and Winter tales for young people from the ages ten to under five.
Hazel has over nine years’ experience of performing spoken word poetry and hosting events for live performance such as poetry and storytelling. Most recently, she performed in Vicar Street for Inner Light: Concert for Ukraine. Her poem ‘Grangegorman’ is on the recommended list to be studied as part of the Junior Cert syllabus. Her poetry was submitted into the Irish Poetry Reading Archive as part of the UCD digital library.
Hazel has years of experience facilitating workshops in poetry, spoken word and creativity for young people. She is currently working with Poetry Ireland on their WraPParound project, teaching poetry, rap and spoken word to young people in schools.
Hazel set up the Ukrainian Creative Hub hosted by the Museum of Literature Ireland in partnership with Dublin City Council. The Hub offers a space for the Ukrainian community to be creative in a fun and welcoming environment.
In 2022, Hazel worked with Fighting Words on their Story Seeds Project, facilitating workshops in schools across Dublin and Wicklow and adults with intellectual disabilities. She is studying English and Creative Writing at UCD.
